12-8-11 Meeting Minutes for Northern WI NORML

In attendance was:
Rich Martin, Jessica Franke, Linda Martin, Robert Franke, Jason Egger, Brad, Wally, and late arrivals Shereen, Joseph

Also attending via Google Hangout: Jay Selthofner, Candi, JC, Cliff, Dan K Glassworks, Brian Halsley, Eric R

Executive Director Rich Martin called the meeting to order at 6:10pm

He discussed the THC Tour that was held at UW Oshkosh yesterday (Dec 7)

We also discussed fundraising ideas. Rich discussed his Hempy Holidays / Change for Change idea of bell ringing in downtown Appleton during the busy bar hopping hours.

College Student Memberships – we will give free memberships to college students with a valid student ID.

Linda suggested we offer the same free membership level for senior citizens.

Via the Google Hangout, Jay mentioned that we do have hardship discounts available also.

We discussed the definition of “abuse” vs “use” vs “habituation”.

Rich also discussed Dana Beal and Ibogaine and the presentation that we saw at the THC tour yesterday.

Rich also discussed “Rules for Radicals, a book which discusses how to discuss controversial topics without offending people with very different opinions.

We also discussed the book “Breaking Ranks” about the dark side of American policing (by Norm Stamper). www.normstamper.com

Rich also spent some time discussing Marc Emery and his jail sentenced, and his hard work and what he has sacrificed for the Cannabis activism movement. He encourages everyone to write letters to Marc thanking him for what he has done

He also discussed Hester Meiko-Perez and Joey and the Unconventional Foundation for Autism.
