6-8-10 Meeting Minutes for Northern WI NORML

Alex Toast – We need to send a thank you card and do something nice, like T-shirts.

2nd Tuesday in September will be our formal board elections.

T-shirts / Logo – Jessie discussed the dilemma she’s been having with the logo graphic and trying to clean it up and get the resolutions high enough to make good quality T-shirts and other merchandise. Do we have any talented graphic designers who can help?

There is a ABC 20/20 email we all need to send saying that we want to see a positive spin on the Meiko/Joey story. Some people had mentioned it was portrayed in not the best light, but the show was bumped last week, so there is still time for them to make adjustments before it airs. Write to them and tell them to give us a fair unbiased look at the story.

Markesan Parade for next weekend. We’re still on. We won’t be able to get all of the signs and banners printed on time, but we may be able to get just the large banner printed. Laura will look into it. Jay will see about making the past/present/future banners by hand.

Fox River Days – they are not having nonprofit organizations included. Jay volunteered for us to sponsor something or to sponsor time at the event. He even offered cash, but they have not called back so we can assume they are not interested.

Berlin will be having Sidewalk Days the July 17th and 18th, Jay is going to see if we can set up a booth or something for that event.

We discussed sending in some of our un-given prizes from the fishiree to the Relay for Life Cancer walk. We have medium rain jackets left, which we agreed would be a great prize.

We discussed sponsoring Four Corners’ Team Ladybug in August. We will discuss that at a future meeting when we have more information available.

Laura will be entering her car into the Demolition Derby in August as we discussed after the meeting with her last time. Northern WI NORML will have our logo featured on the car, as well as several other sponsors. We will need to finalize the plans and details and find a 2nd driver.

We need to finalize a “field manager” package as we had also discussed. Jay has spoken to some people who are ready and willing. So, we need to make a $100 package of merchandise to sell them. In the meantime we need to research cheap merchandise like Pot Leaf t-shirts, etc. that we can include in this package.

Laura brought up Citywide rummage sales. Berlin’s may still be in the future, we should look into that and see when it is.

We will need to hold off on Princeton Flea Market until we have some merchandise.

We discussed offering “first 5 members get t-shirts” or things like that. We agreed that for the Markesan Parade we should offer free marijuana leaf necklaces to all who volunteer at the parade – “Free Merchandise to all who come to volunteer with us”.

Offer “Anonymous blogging” on the blog and make people aware they don’t have to use their real names and can still contribute. We discussed Jay’s idea of “Interviewing” people with interesting stories who don’t want to blog, and anonymously post their stories on the blog. We like that idea.

We also need to highlight the anonymous membership.
