7-13-10 Meeting Minutes for Northern WI NORML

Reminder to the webmaster to get a contact form / information capture system set up on the website so that anyone who is trying to contact us or ask a question or anything, we capture that information for those who want to be added to the mailing list, etc.

We discussed the Ripon Commonwealth Press poll, the Berlin Journal, and other press that we received in the last few weeks. The marijuana poll was actually a response to the Jay Selthofner for WI Assembly campaign that has been going on (www.JaySelthofner.com)

Jay asked us to please write a note to the Berlin Journal, he would like us to sound off and write letters to the editor and things of that nature, so that there is someone other than Jay writing in on the topic all the time.

Library calendar of events – check it to make sure that we’re on the calendar. We should also try to do free advertising whenever possibly by getting on local “community events” calendars.

Likewise, Jay would like us to blog, tweet, sign up for forums, and do anything else you can think of to promote the NORML website, blogs, facebook, and other profiles that we have set up for the NORML.

We mentioned the Ripon Jaycees and the article in the paper that mentioned they were unable to get enough members to renew their charter – maybe we could help promote them in some way as a cross-promotion.

We updated everyone about the parades that we marched in and told them about the experience.

Jay informed us that our booth at the Green Lake County Fair has mysteriously been un-reserved. If we cannot get the booth back, then we will go there and canvas the entire fair and hand out flyers instead. He will continue to look into the matter and get back to us.

Jay also called Pick N Save about a brat fry but they are not getting back to us. He will go there sometime this week and look into it.

Discussed the demo derby car that Laura is working on. Jay is going to be in Wautoma soon and will stop by and look at the car to see if it’s being prepped.

We should look into having someone local like Renard’s to bake us pot leaf shaped cookies.

Appleton’s Octoberfest is September 25th. Rich is looking into the possibility of handing out flyers or other things like that.

We discussed the possibility of a THC Tour in Ripon for the future. 420 Science may do an event in Wisconsin in October – we will have to wait and see if they do. Just something to keep in mind for the future.
