Sunset Flow Session with Devil Sticks by the River
I decided to go and try out my little Nikon Coolpix AW100 Digital Camera and see how a full motion video would turn out in evening and sunset conditions. I went to my favorite spot by the river side. Set up my tripod. Connected my bluetooth speaker to my spotify playlist. And filmed much of my 2 hour flow session juggling with my Devil Sticks.
The above video is towards the end, when the sunset is almost finished, and I’m pretty warm and exhausted. I kept dropping my stick and having to pick it up. I found that I was NOT able to sing and juggle at the same time no matter how slow I juggled. It’s a good reminder that my lungs are still a long way from healed after a lifetime of cigarette smoking. (It has been 240 days since my last cigarette!)
Here’s a video from a little earlier in the session when the sun was up.
I have been juggling with Devil Sticks since 1996 when I borrowed a set at Even Further. I used a friend’s wooden set all weekend and was hooked. I bought my own starter set the next week.
It’s a really nice stress relief activity. It also gives me a reason to get outdoors and get some sunshine. In the winter I don’t really have a place to do it. But in the spring, summer, and fall I am always looking for private, pretty places to go and juggle by myself with some good music. I tried to film it with my phone once or twice but it never really turned out well. This is the first time I ever tried to film it with a steady tripod and a better camera.
I got almost 2 hours of video footage in different lighting that I plan to review.
The location is Riverside Cemetery in Menominee, MI, which I frequently haunt.
I also took these sunset pictures with my LG Stylo 5 phone. The colors were so vibrant and pretty! But the downside to the camera on my phone is that sometimes the pictures turn out blurry no matter how much I try to focus.
